Fill in one of these to override the quality setting above and aim for a specific result size instead. Leave both blank to just use the quality slider (or the default, if there isn't one on this tool).

Works by re-encoding at different quality levels and keeping the best one that still fits - for JPG/WebP/AVIF this adjusts image quality (a graceful, hard-to-notice tradeoff); for PNG, since it's a lossless format with no quality dial, it reduces the color palette instead if needed (a more visible tradeoff on photos, usually fine on graphics/screenshots). Has no effect on GIF/BMP. If your target is smaller than the image can honestly go, you'll get the closest size actually achievable rather than a broken or misleadingly-labeled file - check the downloaded filename, it always shows the real result size.
